Miguel's VERY UNOFFICIAL Patriots Salary Cap Information Page

The Internet's 1st Salary Cap Page That is Devoted to One Team

DISCLAIMER:

Welcome to the first website that was focused on covering a NFL team's salary cap.

Please note that Paul Katcher of Time Magazine called this page "by far the weirdest site I came across while researching this guide" in his listing of Essential bookmarks for the true football fan. and that on Page 4 of the September 3, 2001 issue of Time Magazine this page is referred to as "informed analysis of the Patriots' salary-cap problems."

DraftDaddy.Com labeled this page as "perhaps the most complete single team salary cap page on the web".
SportsRetort.Com labels this page as "an amazing resource; ideally, every team would have such a page devoted to it."
Bill Barnwell in a guest column on FootballOutsiders.Com called this page "excellent".
The Boston Globe's Mike Reiss opined this in of his mailbags - "As for the best source for the most complete and accurate salary cap and contract information, I recommend patscap.com. It is put together by a devoted Patriots fan named Miguel. While he acknowledges the numbers aren't 100 percent accurate because they are culled together from various published reports, he is very detailed and the site is unlike any other I've seen."

According to my figures the Patriots' 2014 current commitment is for $110,702,377 with 59 players signed. I have the Patriots' 2014 dead money as $16,607,384. The Patriots started the 2014 regular season with 4 players on Injured Reserve. Their cap total is $1,217,000. Maintaing the ten-man practice squad has cost $955,400. $16,607,384 + $110,702,047 + $1,217,000 + $955,400 = $129,533,631. My numbers do INCLUDE the transactions made on September 4th. The Patriots 2014 adjusted cap number is $139,109,051 so I have the Pats under it by $9,575,420. The NFLPA cap report has the Patriots under their adjusted cap number by $14,089,190 so our numbers differ by $4,513,500.

Please note that my numbers are now including everyone (all 53 players, 4 players on IR, the 2 suspended players, and the 10-man practice squad) while the NFLPA's does not yet.

Please note that by clicking on the player's name you will be brought to the supporting documentation for his cap figure. The cap savings column is a net savings after the rule of 51 is applied. When a player in the Top 51 is cut, his spot is taken up by another player. Example - player has a 2014 cap hit of $1,000,000 which is all salary. He is released. A player with a $495,000 salary takes his place. Net savings - $505,000. The Rule of 51 also works when a player is added to the roster. Example - Patriots sign a UFA who has a 2014 cap cap of $2,000,000. His net cap cost to the Patriots is $1,505,000 as he will displace a player with a $495,000 salary from the Top 51 list.

How to Read This Table

First and foremost, please read the player's documentation if you have any questions. When I don't know the date when a roster bonus is due I presume it to have been due on March 12, 2014.
