Miguel's VERY UNOFFICIAL Patriots Salary Cap Information Page

The Internet's 1st Salary Cap Page That is Devoted to One Team

I would like to thank Pats39, Peachhead, Jim S, Chris Matthews "CJ", Ian Logue, Andrew Brecher, Jocelyn Robichaud, Naren99, Ickster, dscotts, Ralmat55, PatsFanKen, Urgent, Hurricane1, Norman Trudel, the Homers, Ed Bryant, David Tremblay, Steve Haggett, JDSal45, Paul Dalrymple, DaBruinz, Patriots569, MoLewisRocks, PromisedLand, David Gallagher, Deus Irae and persons who ask to remain nameless. Each of them have in their own way provided invaluable assistance and guidance. Please note that NONE of them are responsible for errors on this page. I like to thank @DJMC25, a Twitter follower, for his excellent suggestion of basing my Twitter handle on my current Patriots cap number.

Please note that Paul Katcher of Time Magazine called this page "by far the weirdest site I came across while researching this guide" in his 2001listing of Essential bookmarks for the true football fan and that on Page 4 of the September 3, 2001 issue of Time Magazine this page is referred to as "informed analysis of the Patriots' salary-cap problems.

DraftDaddy.Com labeled this page as "perhaps the most complete single team salary cap page on the web".
SportsRetort.Com labels this page as "an amazing resource; ideally, every team would have such a page devoted to it."
Bill Barnwell in a guest column on FootballOutsiders.Com called this page "excellent".
The Boston Globe's Mike Reiss opined this in of his mailbags - "As for the best source for the most complete and accurate salary cap and contract information, I recommend patscap.com. It is put together by a devoted Patriots fan named Miguel. While he acknowledges the numbers aren't 100 percent accurate because they are culled together from various published reports, he is very detailed and the site is unlike any other I've seen."

According to my figures the Patriots' 2016 cap commitment is for $149,897,444 with 80 signed players (75 active, 3 Reserve-PUP, 2 IR) using the Top 51 rule.

I like to credit Brian McFarland @RavensSalaryCap for coming up with the idea of the below table.

2016 Rule of 51 New England Patriots Salary Cap Status (as of 8/29/2016)
2016 League Salary Cap$155,270,000
2015 Cap Space Carryover$1,347,882
Adjustments:$3,024,569
Patriots Adjusted Cap:$159,642,451
TOTAL Players Under Contract/PUP/IR (80)$149,897,444
RULE OF 51 - OVER/UNDER SALARY CAP:$9,745,007

This cap space number of $9,745,007 differs from the NFLPA's number
of $9,035,007 by $993,750 probably because I am including the Mingo trade, Stork waiver and the Knighton release
in my numbers while the NFLPA is understandably a couple of days behind plus I do not know the exact details of Donald Brown's injury settlement.

A call for a donation

A long-time family friend, my youngest sister's best friend, is on the board of directors of a soup kitchen and food pantry in Malden, Massachusetts that provided in 2015 the equivalent of 1,030,000 meals to hungry, homeless and isolated people. I am asking that if you have found my salary cap pages useful that if you are able to do so, please make a donation to the Bread of Life soup kitchen/food pantry.
You can make a donation below by clicking on the Donate button.

I am hoping to raise five thousand dollars by the time the Patriots win their 5th Super Bowl. Please mention this website by typing in Patscap's Drive for Five in the Purpose Field.
You can have a portion of your Amazon.Com purchases donated to the Bread of Life.
You can learn how to do so by watching a YouTube video at
